Patients can now book audiology services without needing to speak to the GP first.
The audiology service deals with:
- hearing problems
- tinnitus
- problematic wax
If you need to see the primary care audiology team, you should phone the surgery or ask at reception to be booked for an ‘audiology’ appointment. By booking directly, you can often get your problem dealt with quicker than speaking to the GP first.
If you are going to see the audiologist to have wax removed, you should use ear oil to the affected ear for the 7 days leading up to the appointment (2 drops to the ear, 3 times per day). These ear oil drops can be bought from the local pharmacy or supermarket. However, if you have a history of perforations to the ear, please use an ear oil spray – do not use ear drops.
